Have You ever Dated somebody who expected You to wear Your makeup a specific Way?
I haven’t…at least if we’re speaking about makeup (hair is a different story, however we’ll get to that in a second). The reason this is on my mind today is since I just recently checked out an short article in which the author’s ex-boyfriend’s affinity for natural-looking/nude makeup, as well as his dislike for specific nail polish colors, identified what she used for years, as well as it was only after she broke up with him that she realized she might wear whatever she wanted.
I grind my teeth a bit (OK, a lot) when I believe about exactly how I would have responded had I been in a similar circumstance as a young woman, since to a degree I’m a people pleaser, as well as I can see myself making those accommodations for somebody I loved.

As for my hair…I dated a dude my senior year in college who was type of an @sshole, however he was the type of man parents liked since he completely sucked as much as them as well as was truly great on paper — smart, great grades, ambitious, on the track team, sights set on a political profession — however deep down inside, he was not the nicest person.
Anyway, he had this strange controlling streak that was sneaky as well as subtle, as well as it would come out whenever he’d try to manipulate me into looking a specific way. Like, when I satisfied him, my hair was very long (longer than it is now), as well as he kept making comments about exactly how he liked short hair on girls. Then, he’d go into this story about exactly how each time he’s ever discussed it to other women he dated, they’d always ultimately cut their hair…for him.
BARF! say thanks to goodness I never cut my hair for that goof.

Another thing he did was subtly comment on exactly how he disapproved of my clothes, as well as exactly how my ripped denim looked “sloppy” as well as my tee shirts were as well laid-back as well as blah, blah, blah. (Weird, though, that he never chosen on exactly how I used my makeup, right?.)
The connection didn’t last long, as well as yay for me! — I never saw or heard from him once again after graduation. I picture he’s somewhere in the world with a lady who had long hair at one time however now uses it short as well as secretly regrets cutting it…
